Apartment Living

One of our employees, Danielle, moved to Washington, D.C. with her husband last year. The furniture they were using was soft, worn out and hurting their backs. Since they live in a small apartment, the living room is where they relax, eat dinner and spend time with guests. They needed enough furniture to be able to hosts a few friends over for a Georgia game but did not have the space for several pieces. Danielle has always loved LEE Industries’ upholstery and knew that she wanted to furnish her apartment in that. After making a list of what they each wanted and did not want, they went on a hunt for the perfect sofa and chair.

After deciding on a tight back sofa to prevent someone from getting stuck in the crack, and a bench seat that allows for comfortable napping on a Saturday afternoon, they settled on the LEE 3106-03 in Crypton Zag Indigo fabric with fruitwood oak stain for the legs.

Her husband wanted a “man chair” that was sleek but also reclined. He chose the LEE 1974-01R in a stunning plaid fabric (Chester Lagoon) with fruitwood stain for the arms and legs. They completed this living room look with a LEE 9461-90 bench in Simon Truffle fabric and a khaki and white Diamond Rug from Dash and Albert.

Danielle wanted a clean, soft bedroom without it being too girly (every newlywed’s challenge). She used our ready-made linen drapes in both the living room and bedroom. A simple, taupe quilt with matching shams, a Pine Cone Hill white duvet and a striped throw and lumbar pillow created a room with both feminine and masculine details.

Check out our video from LEE Industries and REstyleSOURCE. We had such a great time filming and are so thankful that we got to be apart of it.

Lake Lanier Home: Stage 3

This Lake Lanier home has been such a treat to work on. Our stage 1 blog post focused on the planning stage of this lakehouse. Once the paint, stains, and construction details of the home were all selected we moved onto choosing the furniture, which we talk about in our stage 2 post.  Lots of natural light streams through the giant windows located in the living area overlooking the lake. To keep with the relaxed feel of a lakehouse, we used comfortable upholstery in the living area. Detail and contrast were added with the use of  dark toned chandeliers in the foyer, dining area, and over the sink which were selected from our online store.

When the homeowners chose Miller Oat fabric for the 7042-03 sofa and Blake Bisque for the 1011-01 swivel chairs, both neutral fabrics,  we knew we would need to add pops of color with accessories. Green is a favorite of our clients so the use of bright green pillows and the brown and green Lee Jofa print for the other pillows  gave us the pop of color we needed.  LEE Industries leopard print pillows added texture to the swivel chairs.  After testing several green rugs in the living area, we decided on a Dash and Albert plaid jute rug in a moss green.

We continued the green color scheme throughout the dining area with LEE Industries slipcovered dining chairs in Inca Pistachio, a cotton blend fabric with pin striped detailing. We then filled the rest of the dining table with simple linen slipcovered chairs to keep the crisp look of a lakehouse. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy breakfast with that kind of view?

Lee Industries: Billy Coley

Every once in a while we get a visit from our Lee Industries rep, Billy Coley. Billy is a charming southern boy through and through, and we always look forward to his visits. It would be hard not to enjoy Billy’s exuberant personality alone, but along with the personality he brings with him an incredible knowledge of the furniture industry. His latest visit got us thinking about how the furniture we purchase for the store and order for our clients has changed over the years. People aren’t decorating a room anymore to be looked at fondly from another room. Today’s clients want the beauty of a well designed room, as well as the livability that comes with truly using every room in a home. Lee Industries does a great job offering high-style designs and comfort at the same time. While researching some upholstery pieces for a client on the Lee Industries website, we saw that Lee had gorgeous product photos that proved our point entirely. So as the saying goes, ” a picture is worth a thousand words”!

When we saw this photo, we knew this had to be our blog for the week. Billy Coley was so impressed by this enormous piece of artwork he had seen of an elephant swimming that he could barely contain his excitement while describing it to us. So, when we happened to come across this photo on the Lee Industries website we saw first hand what Billy had been talking about. And Billy, you were right, it is impressive! The combination of the gorgeous artwork with the use of the grayish purple fabric on the bench seat sofa is stunning. Seriously, what a conversation starter!

We love the idea that the sectional is back, updated, and fabulous! Say good-bye to the days when the sectional was the family “media room” and dinner table and hello to high style mixed with high functionality.

The combination of the high style look of this couch and the casual feel of the slipcover work together to make this room feel fashionable and comfortable. We also love the use of the one chartreuse green pillow that perfectly pulls in the color of the artwork. Brilliant.

The use of these bright green chairs against the light color of the sofa makes this whole room pop. We love the statement the green chairs make in combination with the light sofa and the one leather chair. Nicely done.

The tufted ottoman in this picture caught our attention and we can just imagine serving drinks to our guests on an antique tray and then placing it on the ottoman. A tufted ottoman adds a certain level of comfort and coziness to the area and softens the look.

We love how Lee has mixed the formal fabric and style of the sofa with the casual feel of the slip covered chair. The impeccable use of complementary paint colors, neutral fabrics on the upholstery, and the one striped lumbar pillow brings this whole room together beautifully. Simply gorgeous!
